Outback Overflow
A free, online, jeopardy-style capture the flag competition run by high schoolers, for high schoolers — and open to everyone.
Format
Outback Overflow is a 24-hour jeopardy CTF hosted on CTFd. Teams of any size can compete, but we recommend 2–5 members. Challenges will be released in waves throughout the event.
Categories
Expect challenges across web exploitation, cryptography, forensics, reverse engineering, OSINT, binary exploitation, and miscellaneous. Difficulties range from introductory to advanced — there's something for everyone regardless of experience level.
Dates
November 21, 2026 at 10:00 AM AEDT — November 22, 2026 at 10:00 AM AEDT.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the top overall teams, with separate prizes for the top high school teams. Details will be announced as we confirm sponsors.
Rules
No flag sharing between teams. No attacking the CTF infrastructure. No brute-forcing the flag submission endpoint. Standard CTF etiquette applies. If you're unsure about something, ask an organiser on our Discord.
Registration
Registration will open closer to the event on our CTFd instance. Join our Discord to be notified when registration opens and to find teammates.
